Hi.This is my six peneth .ATA. panel beater (retired) Car body repairs . Insurance approved body shops are supposed to use the manufacturers recommended repair schedule when working on car bodies. Ie where to mig weld mig braze spot weld or even pop rivet and glue!!!! This is to ensure that if the car is in a collision the damage will not affect the safety cell , If you over engineer a repair ie to many welds of the wrong type and place then the safety cell is compromised leading to injury. All modern car bodiesBut this isnt about MOT's. Its about registering cars that have been welded.
are constructed to ensure that the occupants of the car are as safe as possible. Therefore no body can tell if the repair has been done correctly if it's covered in bodge or paint etc.
