My father had one of the notorious grey Ferguson 35s which, like most of them, was bad to start. So it got easy start, it got worse to start, so it got more easy start, finally we would only use it in Summer as trying to start in cold weather was a waste of time. Apparently now they can be "fixed" by re-timing the fuel pump but nobody knew that back in the 1960s. So did it get worse rapidly because of easy start, or because it got further out of time? I don't know, but have always been wary of easy start since. Incidentally Start Pilote was an option on Leyland Trucks in the 1980s.
