Going to have to disagree, both models are rubbish
They are so bad the organisation I work for are not getting anymore. Rangers were our go to model of truck. Very dissapointed in them. Ours get serviced as per Fords recommendations, basically they want for nothing and still breakdown regularly.

Oooofff, they look worse in the flesh than they do on screen. Proper fugly, though the 7 year warranty would go a long way.
Took a new Ranger Wildtrack out for a few hours test drive yesterday . It was the new 2.0 bi turbo with 10 speed autobox. Must say it was a lovely drive. Managed to get 29 mpg out of it, mostly on B roads, with a bit of dual carriageway thrown in. Had to remember to stick to the lower speed limits (luckily my daily is a Transit Custom), although I did have to show a clean pair of heels in sport mode when some jobby was sat behind me flashing his lights to come past.
Kids want me to buy it, but the wife not so keen to start with, thought it was a hillbilly wagon. When I told her I wanted the orange one , she told the salesman I’m definitely not having it.

Where I worked before Christmas last year we had lads towing things in every day had loads day there old 2.2’s blew heads but the 3.2’s were solid
I had a 2.0bi turbo amarok and it was rubbish. It understeered in the wet and you didn’t have to provoke it to do that, had to be thrashed in every gear to get it to move with modern traffic. They have now switched to an izusu

It was a very early model Hilux they couldn’t kill.

my uncles had a very early toyota hi lux, petrol, it finally rotted before it broke mechanically and that was because they were working in the fields every day,lack of service didnt help. re l200 I just did 70 mile motorway and b roads with two 16 stoners in the back and two 13 in the front, 60/70 mph,average 35 mpg, cant complain at that,and with the "ballast" super smooth ride. but it is virtually a antique being 06 reg.

good idea, dont rush in and regret it, take it for a good test drive,then hum and ha and promise to get back to him, leaving him your no. then same as with a mitzi , decide which you like the most and let them offer the best deal. Money talks.

What I really want is something that looks like the Isuzu from the front, has the dash and interior of the mitsi, a bed from a 2 door L200 and a land rover TD5

How about a soft-dash Range Rover Classic (diesel) pickup? I know of one with a solid chassis, solid electrics just needs a bit of bodywork finished off from the conversion and a dust off. Given limited market the price we were thinking of was waaay below the £10k you mention.

My daily driver is a 15 plate L200, its very nice however it doesn't like to be in 4th at 30mph in many situations - I'm using 3rd, whereas my wife's Yaris will happily pull 4th on the same roads and my 62 year old Land Rover (on original chassis) will pull 4th in overdrive (and with 3.54:1 diffs). The service manager at the dealer has said that there's nothing wrong with it.
Work has several L200s and an Isuzu used on site, the Isuzu is the more rugged vehicle of the two. The L200s have suffered blown CV joints whereas the Isuzu in the same conditions has been fine.
