ISO container - reassembly

I'm wanting something secure.

I was considering just getting a 2nd hand concrete garage, but that means footings, and pouring a floor.
plus the doors are never secure enough.

I wouldn't bank on a container being any more secure than a shed. Especially as a shed is individual and unique whereas thieveing gits have plenty of practice braking into containers

if you take the sides off

but if doors are off you still need to transport the roof and base as one unit

or cut it into 4s and wheel around and reweld it back together or bolt it together using angle iron

Not only that, but a container is a big red invitation, to see what might be valuable enough for such storage.

Also the floors are 1in ply and an absolute nightmare to do anything with. Very heavy. Can't be removed intact as they are nailed into the metal work.

the best way is to cut it up into 5 4ft pieces or 4 5ft pieces x wide then take those around

weld angle iron to each of the cuts or bridge over the cuts angle iron would allow you to bolt tighter together

but you would still need a base area for you to roll them onto or squeeze them together

At just over two tons a decent hiab truck could lower it over the house into the garden.

If a workshop id be tempted to make out of trisomet composite cladding, sides and roof, not cheap but quite hard to get through and fully insulated, plus you can make it a bit wider than container size.

a chainsaw or a circular saw would be through that in minutes

Yes but I’d be through a container with oxy just as quick without making any noise so if some one really wants to get in you don’t really have a chance unless you want to pour concrete walls….

That is why bunkers/vaults are made out of concrete

2 tons at 60ft with the one we use for recovery ,,, or 90 tons at 1m ,,, from memory .

combine fell off the low loader while unloading , job was to recover it ,, so just lift the combine with the Hiab and drive the truck out , set combine back on the ground and the jobs a good un

Same here - bypass the lock in a box on the doors, and simply cut a new door in the side with the stihl saw they'd nicked from elsewhere . . .

I dont think I would be keen oc turning a container into a kit at all ,, for the time and effort involved and the iffy end result I would start from scratch and build something new straight and level .
