Iseki tractor?

Just wondered if anybody had one or had worked on one.
Friend has asked me to try and sort out overheating. Works for about 15 min then the light goes on. It is hot, not just the light/sensor.
So, not loseing coolant, the thermostat opens (checked it in hotish water and tried without it)
The radiator is newish (two years) and coolant system always filled with antifreeze, no sign of oil sheen on coolant and it appears to flow in the top of the rad with some turbulant movement. Cooling fan OK and belt tight.
Looked on the dipstick and oil is clean, so don't think it is the gasket.
Engine is a three pot 23hp diesel. Not sure who makes the base engine, but it might be them. Spares are only available through the agent at steep prices, nothing on the web.
Next week, I am going to pull the water pump and see if that has problems, then, if that is OK, maybe pull the head.

Any other ideas?

Left it with the engine running and the cutting deck going for 20 mins, seemed OK. Then ran it for 5 min cutting grass and the light came on with the extra load.

It has a few years working on an estate, mostly cutting grass (lots of it) used quite hard, but it is generally well built for pros.

impellor loose on the pump shaft, or worn out, would be my first thought, but presumably you've tried back flushing the system, and radiator to make sure it's clear.

Does it still overheat even without the thermostat in? would point to a problem with circulation.

My son has had good results with hot running motors by using Red Line Water wetter, Does the system have any vents to make sure the cooling system does not have any air trapped.

We have one of these, have you checked/cleaned the drop down gauze in front of the rad? If its missing the rad may well need a good blow out with an air line.

Take the radiator out, soak in traffic film remover and jet wash it with a hot water jet wash. I bet the radiator is full of oil and grass seeds

I’d also drop the water pump off and inspect the impeller. I’ve seen it where it’s a plastic impeller on the metal shaft and the impeller is just spinning on the shaft not being driven.

When it's really hot feel the bottom of the rad. If it's untouchable hot, it points to the rad not being able to release the heat.ie externally blocked or an air flow problem. But if its touchable it points to a circulation problem possibly the pump.

Gauze is clean, he does that often and the rad gets blown through with an air line if any seeds, fluff noticable. Fan is direct, not viscous and the next step is checking the water pump internally. The coolant does appear to be flowing, but prap's not enough.. With the 'stat out, it still overheats. No sign of trapped air and never been a prob previouly, it is a pretty simple set up.
The rad was replaced a couple of years ago when the engine mts failed and the fan gouged it.
Bloke is learning how to look after things since I got involved and changes oil and filters regularly, along with looking about for loose stuff. He uses it quite hard, estate is 120 hect with grass, woods and some arable, though the farmer does that.
Owner has agreed to a new tractor, but we want to keep this as a spare, recently bought a new cutting deck.

Next step, is to teach the guy welding. Told him to read the stuff up the top on here and gave him a little inverter set & auto mask.

Was the block itself flushed both ways whilst the rad was out? Some blocks can have small area flow passages especially at the back of the block.

Does it have a rad/fan cowling ?
is it supposed to have a cowling, can cause all sorts of issues if missing

Completely unrelated but amusing.

After 2 days of fault finding and half a day swapping out the injectors I start the engine.

Holy moly it sounded rough, what had I got so wrong!!!!!

Nope I missed that a grotty horrible iseki had just driven past at the turn of the key.

It did work reasonably, but the new one arrived so it on 'light duties now. Just pulling a trailer around, while the new one does all the hard cutting etc.

I think mtt.tr is referring to them being a bit noisy....

Different models use different engines……
