Father said its similar to the money crisis back in 2007-8 good time to buy as there’s some nice kit coming on sale. I was looking at bid-spotter last night although weve never bought anything off the auction site there is some nice kit about even on here. That bandsaws listed on here got me exited. Truck drivings good but one doesn't get the same satisfaction as a nice bit of kit.

im only on 36k first year and bigger money needs experience at the moment but its real cushty start at 3pm home for 11 pm golf in the morning and looking forward to the summer and its keeping the girlfriend happy, as she thinks im saving up to move out of parents house, lol at home

That's pretty decent although i'd call the hours unsociable in normal situations.

I did start doing the night trunking runs up to Birmingham started at 6 pm arrive home at 8am if all went smooth good experience lots of miles but no life. money ok for me while at home as its cushy mothers comforts lol

Plenty of them earning 50k now, though that will be a fair few hours at some firms.

yes trev I went for an interview a week ago as you do, and got the job hauling powered cement but filthy or what that was 48K im happy at the mo plus i have new hobby golf which fits in with my day nicely

yes dont get me wrong I probably wouldn't have thought of hgv driving had it not been for father pending operation although its ok working on ones own lots of variety never the same day twice, but there isnt a lot of social interaction and that can sometime mess with ones head ie confidence, if you know what I mean

Do check the safety valve lifts once a week.
A driver years ago decided to race tune his safety valve so it did not lift at all, he started to see dust coming from the side of the tank, it blew with such force it wrecked a nearby portakabin, dont touch the lid clamps whilst the vessel is under pressure as you will die!

Seriously, I know I could earn twice what I earn on the Norfolk broads, where they're looking for boat mechanics at £49k, but frankly, no, firstly my severely autistic son (13) is in an amazing institution, 4 days a week, taxi to and from, all covered by the government, which changes our lives, but equally importantly he loves it. We've a huge house and garden (frankly, it's too big, and difficult to heat), which honestly cost us less than €50k, yeah, a poop load of work to do, might get finished one day, we don't live like 'normal' people, our kitchen is still 'temporary' six years later, but like I give a poop. When we sell our other house, yes, still haven't emptied it, mainly 'cos of my workshop, which needs moving here, and the workshop here still no concrete floor, for the lathe and mill due to lack of funds.........

So in short, or long, no, I'd never consider moving back, I love it here.

But, honestly, financially, things are currently pretty bloody tight, but it's not just me, it's everyone.

We're not all mortgage free and retired, sadly.

I think we are on the same page mate, i believe in this life there are things far more important than counting money and having homes like new pins, i don't chase money anymore and i like my home to be a safe place to live and not a show home. Money pays bills and buys food, but not hapiness.

I used to live on the North end of Dartmoor, lovely damp place, but a small house starts at a quarter of a million, sod that, I can't afford that.

Population density, and traffic jams, two things which are alien to me, I live in the countryside, works 8 mins, 8kms away, I don't sit in traffic jams, I don't lock the doors at night, biggest killer round here is drink driving.

I would have been surprised if mat said he would come back.
Father got into France years ago doing work for a guy that used to purchase what you would call peasant houses then convert them ie animals were kept down stairs while the people lived upstairs he would concrete in the floors downstairs add staircase and rooms then the guy sold them to uk clients. anyhow father use to take us on holiday while he was working he always said he was going to do the same as Matt and buy a place out in France father always liked the Charente region although weave been most places in France. Then he got a motor home now he recons hes got the best of both world sits in France when he like then comes back to the family as and when. he does occasionally still say hes gonna get a little place in France by the sea for when hes to old to drive. Until i met me girlfriend ive never spent a summer in the uk. I think father has more friends in France.the sometime fly to Toulouse there special friends live near Albi.
