Call them to check if your application has arrived, also as said the car must have a valid mot when the new tax is due to start

Tried calling them but on the numbers I found
1) the options don't actually list the issue I wanted but after guessing I found it
2) once I thought I had the right option, it was just a message telling me what I already knew and hung up. Not sure you can actually speak to a real human being these days

I was going to say the same. They have been a mess for as long as I have had to deal with them... so since i started driving a looong time ago. COVID is just a handy excuse for many people for crappy customer service.

Interestingly when i sent off for my HGV provisional a few weeks back, posted in the medical and other forms, it was done much faster than i expected 4 or 5 days maybe.

It must be nice.

I sent my licence to Swansea a month ago to have provisional coach entitlement added and not seen hide nor hair of it since but in their defence I had a text from them this week to say it was in the system.

I'm almost hoping it comes back without C+E on it as I've told OH I might go on the game and make my fortune .

Did online transfer of ownership at 13.00 on Tuesday 6th. V5 arrives in post on Friday 8th at 11 am. Exemplary service.
I guess it depends on how complex your request is. They have been incompetent on lots of occasions.

Took them 6 weeks to process the paperwork for a new Honda that had an SVA test, but once it was on the system 2 days to issue a change of ownership and a new V5.

As I'm 65 shortly, I require a D4 medical to keep class D on my licence. Sent it off on 11th June, checked this week and they're processing those received by 6th May, so it'll be a few weeks yet then - mind you I kept hold of my licence, knowing there would be a delay (you're allowed to if needed for training).

Hopefully by next year - it's a medical every year after 65 - they will be back to normal.

I have a hgv licence C+E and earlier this year I had to have a new licence, medical form was filled in and everything they asked for was sent. Got rejected as I hadn’t sent a new picture, even though the form clearly stated I didn’t require a new one. No information about this on there website. It took numerous telephone calls to speak to someone about it, I hate there call system as it was telling me all information was available on there website then just terminates the call

My 3 year medically restricted license was due last June, did the renewal online, got a letter a few weeks later saying they were extending it for 6 months due to covid but included a medical form for me to get filled in & return before the 6 months expired. After some difficulty getting my gp to fill the form I sent it in last December. Heard nothing back, tried e-mailing, the guy who answered my initial inquiry went off on holiday & I never heard from him again! Only by going online again did I discover that they were giving another 6 month extension.

In March they sent me out another set of forms, including another medical form! What happened the last one I sent them 4 months ago? Another go through trying to get my GP to fill it in but got everything returned to the DVLA. Then nothing! By June I was starting to panic as my license was due to expire. Any e-mails to the customer services were not getting answered at all so in desperation I sent a 'strong' e-mail to the guy I had been dealing with last year. Got a reply saying things were delayed due to covid & not to worry as I was still covered to drive. Funnily enough my new license arrived in a few days!

I get the feeling that they are a bunch of lazy gits!

I must have been lucky, had to SORN one of my Jeeps, did it online but computer said it was already SORNd

Rang DVLA and it did take 10mins to get to speak to a human but she sorted it in 5mins

A very good pal of mine went out and bought his first "going out on the town" suit one Friday after work. When he got home he had his tea, went up showered and dressed ready to go.
Came downstairs and his mum and dad were just speechless, he couldn't figure the problem he thought he looked sharp as hell. "What's the problem?" The suit was BRIGHT purple. My pal is colour blind.

Getting CPC updated for some LGV drivers is delayed causing them to be off the road and possibly out of work for weeks.
I applied for a V5 (which never came when i bought the car last year) back in March - STILL WAITING...

Not sure why, as it's online notification by the training establishment and should go straight on there data base.

You need in excess of one month on your MOT. I had the same problem trying to re-tax my scooter earlier this year. One moth, or one month less a day and it will reject the application.

So if you buy a car thats just had MOT, and tax it, the next time you tax it you have to do it a month earlier?

I actually did it with my bike, as I knew the road tax was going to go up in the budget, so I taxed it a month early, I saved £3
