My dear departed mother in law saying 'these idiots driving too fast! - they don't get there any quicker...' oh yes they do, obviously.

When my wife says, its a shame for 'Gordon Brown , losing his Job, his Home etc....' no its not, another 12 months in power i'd have lost my job, my home ....

A bit more than a dislike, makes me savage drivers in the overtaking lane on dual carriageways and motorways etc with nowt on inside - just because they want to turn right literally 1 mile down the road.
Top that with the idle ba..ards not bothering to indicate, causes accidents.

I think the police should give these drivers a warning. They cause more delay and probably more accidents than someone driving at 80mph

Dual carriageways are a pain - sometimes you have to get in the "wrong" lane too early and it can be awkward if you don't know the area and eveybody around you does.

We should be encouraged to get in the lane ASAP, lanes should be properly signed (I knoiw, more signs!) and overtaking on the inside should be allowed.

You are allowed to overtake on the inside only if traffic to your right is moving more slowly in a queue.

I was under the impression that, as they did when satellites came along, the BBC maintains a 'net presence in order that they can (at some stage) justify charging a licence fee to those who see the light and get rid of their televisual receiver.
In the case of satellites the argument was that if you only had the capability to receive non-BBC channels then you shouldn't have to pay the licence. So they uplinked the Beeb to the satellites and because you could 'receive' their product, you have to pay for it.
Same will presumably apply here: you have a PC, therefore you have the means to watch Iplayer, therefore you will pay the tax. Er, licence.

Let me see, local authotities with established dual carriageways taken stick off the do gooders and police being seen to be doing something.
That is converting dual carriageways in to single lane with obvious drawbacks, however this would show up to them as reducing the speed as all other users would be limited to the slowest ie 40mph in a 60 mph.
Add to that two lanes ie one for 'overtaking', now with a junction coming up lierally 1 3/4 mile away, people manouver in to overtaking lane well before first sign some 1/2 mile away and a further 1 1/4 mile before road goes in to one.
Add to that the old slip road and 'stop' junction has gone, most are now the inside lane and again most just burst their way out in to outer lane causing others to slow down (illegal), again because they want to turn right some 1/2 mile down the road rather than wait for appropriate moment.

This creates road rage, i for one will not undertake but see at least 6 within a 1 mile stretch every morning. I do have a couple of measures i often demonstrate.

While we are on the subject why do nobs pull out of slow lane on motorways in to fast lane just because some one is coming down slip road indicating before having a look? Think about it, they are usually going slower than other lanes and bring others down to their level, hence the cause of traffic jams with concertina effect.
Point is if they cannot get on, tough they should stop at the junction! rather than take for granted.
See the point here had to borrow sons car and no power to do anything with, someone wants to come off slip road, its took me that long to get up to speed i aint slowing or breaking (shouldnt need to anyway) and cant get out into overtaking lane and have the right of way.

How does that work turning right from the outside lane ? They all have slip roads and roundabouts to turn right round here. People who try to race the traffic on motorways as they come up the sliproad instead of filtering in as they should gets me as well hareng, you can't always get over into the middle to let someone on and you shouldn't have to. I was near Sheffield recently and had a taxi driver on the hard shoulder alongside me gesturing when he could easily have slotted in a couple of places behind.

The slip road is an accerlating lane to allow joining traffic to reach the same speed as the lane 1 traffic, then they can merge in.

If you're in lane 1 and catching up a car in the slip road I was taught to consider the car on the slip where it joins the carriageway to be in lane 1, thus overtake in lane 2 or drop behind, whichever is appropiate.

The car on the slip having reahed lane one speed will be going too fast to stop.

Whenever I approach a slip I usually move into lane 2 at the appropiate speed, well in advance.
