It may be politically incorrect , but it works !! All species discipline their young with physical force , it's the only way they learn limits !!
Don't get me wrong , I don't advocate full on punches etc , but a slap never hurt anyone !! I earned the occasional slap at home and was caned at school more than once but it certainly didn't mentally scar me for life !
It sickens me to see how most kids are over indulged brats these days !

I remember getting the belt once in the early years of primary school, but I can't remember what for. I must have been about 6 years old. I do however remember the feeling of being towered over by a fully-grown adult in a roaring temper who inflicted extreme physical pain on me and I was completely unable to do a thing about it.

That's why I don't hit my kids.

if you are after old school acid rock buy the album May Blitz by band of the same name, they invented what Led zepp were doing then imploded in the traditional drugs hell.

I thought you said you liked Robert Fripp?? I thought he was in King Crimson (not that I know much about either Fripp or Crimson, although Fripps guitar playing is extraordinary and I want to hear more). Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick.

As for Led Zep, I doubt very much they copied May Blitz- probably common influences for both bands. Jimmy Page's guitar playing is clearly very hendrix influenced in the late 60's and his acoustic playing very folk and blues based. In fact they stole bits from the old blues artists (I have a fair blues collection as well)- not that there is anything wrong with that as the blues is a folk tradition and the blues artists were stealing from artists previous to them. EG, you can hear bits of Robert Johnson's style in Muddy Waters etc. Led Zep were just continuing the blues tradition. Also they took a lot from classical music, there is a section of a classical guitar piece I learnt 20 years ago that is suspiciously simmilar to parts of Stairway to Heaven.
