Installing an EV Charger without a drive

I think that might be the problem / what blocks you

guess it depends how much you like the tennents / how good they are

could price for a parking space where that grass is?


other than that... you could get a 32amp socket in the corner for the garden behind the fence... then a 7kw plug in charger? 7kw is the same as the 'proper' fitted chargers anyway


I know people who just use the 3kw granny charger all the time (type with a 3 pin plug on) depends how many miles you do / how quick you need to charge

Saw in Manchester this week.
A charging pole, with the out let point locked shut.
A Removable channel cut into the pavement, so the cable does not form a trip hazard.
The pole was in a garden, by their gate.

I have no more info on that, as I was there to supply cabinet with 2 x 9kg powder extinguishers. Not that will do much if it catches fire.

There was somebody on Dragons Den with a solution to protect cables on a pavement to charge cars.
It wasn't a great solution and I think it didn't get any investment but it's something that is needed.

Next door hasn't got a drive, nobody on that row has. They just put stones down for low maintenance.
It would be a squeeze and also a bit awkward getting a car on the garden, I don't know if it would get past Building Control as a driveway.
I've contacted a local electrical company that has some good reviews for EV chargers, will see what they say. At the moment I'm thinking about one with a detachable cable for security and also if the tenant changes at some point the cable could be swapped for one with a different plug.

Don't even supply a cable, its the car owners problem. Obviously put the rent up to recoup your investment in property improvment

They already make such a thing its a plastic humped ramp with cable slots underneath. Very common in construction.

The front lawn looks big enough for a car?

Drop a couple lines of paving slabs down for the wheels and call it a drainage friendly driveway.

Get charger installed, park and plug in where they find it appropriate and pick up the slabs?

If that'd work, sometimes it's easier to fit around the system than to question the system.
