Last time I had a look, some years ago, the old ones were well seized. Must remember to give them a soaking.
When they came out my dad got one of the first pressed steel work mates circa 1972/ 73 .
I made a new HDF top for it in 1993 and in 2007 turned up an aluminium knob as a replacement for (
) a cut in half RH orange vice handle knob.
It's had two sets of replacement rubber boot feet and two out of a set of four replacement D plastic leg locking springs .
It's been a fantastic bit of kit & still gets occasional use and yearly gets lubed with graphite powder where it needs it .

Well, I tried to remove the old foot, heated it up came for a bit, then the lug broke off the workmate, so it’s permanently unajustable now, unless someone local can tig it for me.

Bummer I am soaking mine they are locked solid thats the trouble with steel long term in ally. it won't weld I don't think, the frame is actually crap ally. Mazak casting
Can you use a bit of bent over a tad angle iron pop riveted to the leg to make a foot if you can't get things welded ?

A few years ago I was wondering if a Workmate was worthwhile getting, as I had plenty of bench space, all I had to do was keep it clear.
Some hope of that. So I bought a pair of cheap 'n cheerful Screwfix jobbies.
They work well, very versatile and useful for all those sorts of jobs that need a benchtop in-situ and would be a pain in the arris to keep walking back and forward to the workshop benches.
Otoh, they are quite flimsy - they're solid enough when erected, but made of as thin a steel as they could get away with.
So, I'm still looking for an original Workmate with some heft to it.

Both of my wood working saws are mounted on boards with a batten that can be clamped in the workmate

I've a fairly early one with the cast mid frames ( £10 of FBMP ) It needs new feet actually and found invaluable at times even though it's never used for work work . I've never had an issue with putting it up and down .
