I managed to get some epoxy resin yesterday. What sort of container do you tend to use for the mixing? I had initially thought about the top of an aerosol, but being plastic probably not a good idea?
I will use the top from an aerosol. They should be ideal for mixing small amounts. If it says on the pack it is suitable for joining plastics, among other materials, it is not likely to dissolve them!
there a flamin nuisance being together i prefer seperate tubes easier to handleI had the same type of tube. Although there will be enough for your job and will work. The tubes are about half full and it's really thin. THIS WILL DO THE JOB, so don't worry about that. But if you want some for 'stock' these are what you want (other makes are available)View attachment 379377
I would be careful. I bought some that was awful - the stink of styrene was awful - had to take it outside. Proper epoxy doesn't have styrene in it!I'd use the cheapest you can get from the poundshop for that.
Definitely - they look like a great idea but they never come out equally. And far too easy to get the end cap on wrong so the hardener goes on the resin side!there a flamin nuisance being together i prefer seperate tubes easier to handle

Yes well spotted - how can you have cyanoacrylate on the same label as epoxy? It looks like normal epoxy - maybe due to the labelling error they sold it off cheap to pound shopsThat hilka seems to be 2-part superglue rather than epoxy?
Superglue epoxy?I had the same type of tube. Although there will be enough for your job and will work. The tubes are about half full and it's really thin. one is slightly thicker than the other and a pig to squeeze out when there cold the goo goes all over when you push the cap back on them@brightspark
What actually happens ?
Brands of epoxy resin, more than a couple of orders of magnitude, than the letters in the alphabet at least. Including containing styrene. Viscosity can be adjusted by filler, for example the thixotropy of the resin, gives Aerosil.I understand from some members that there seems to be some crap masquerading as proper epoxy resin.
In contrast some members- Optima21, Pharm, Timbun1962, Julianf and bourbon have found some that is ok. I may even have bought rubbish too, but until I open and use it I won't know. Can we not pool our experience on which ones are ok?
