I just thought I should let you all know, it's not an age thing but, I don't dip my rod as often as I once did....!
However, having said that, when I do, it's for a considerable longer time now..and Boy! It feels good..
And this is all thanks to Richard, hey, what a Guy..
Apparently, my technique was floored, I was dipping too often, but not leaving it in there for long enough, hence not filling the pool, and cooling the pool down..
Having taken this on board and at long last got the gas leaks sorted it's made such a difference..
Today was first time I've had the chance to try again since my " date " with Richard, as I've been at work all hours again.. I did this piece which normally would have taken me 4 hrs and half a bottle of gas to do and Still it would have looked awful.. Not today.. I used the very last smidgen of gas left from the "date" and achieved this 3ft weld joint in 10 mins with no stick touch downs and most importantly no holes..
It ain't perfect, but I think you will agree it's a hell of an improvement .. This is mild steel by the way..
The rust in the background by the way is just an old rusty piece the workpiece is laying on...
To say thank you to all of you is the least I can do.. Your all like family to now to me.. Lifted my feelings about myself immensely .. Huge thank you to my friend Richard, who I plan to visit many times to gain more confidence and experience ..
I've packed in my part time job with the council now, filling holes, and also hope not to continue draining so much gas from the North Sea..
Hugs to ALL.. Laters..
