My mother is 91.
At age 17 she was stretchered into a Tuberculosis hospital, five years later she was out.
She lost her first child shortly after birth (we would call it medical negligence nowadays and get lawyered up)
She lost her third child due to his illness, she will tell you herself it's harder to lose a child than a husband.
She was diagnosed untreatable (by drugs or chemo) cancer seven weeks ago. Operated on three weeks ago and given the all clear last week.
When I spoke to her yesterday, she was "just popping out for some bits".

Yep, my old Mum (90) who I lost in January came to England at 15 from rural Eire, the eldest of multiple siblings was sent here to work in her aunt's rag trade sweatshop in 1945 aged just 15. Got TB, struggled with rent etc but was taken in by a Jewish family. Hence her marvellous chicken soup I guess! I always wondered why she would make loaves & bagels rather than soda bread!

At the end, doubly incontinent, diabetic and with mixed dementia, Covid taking here was a welcome release.

Call Docs abut a referall that got cancelled and got told i was lying in certain words that i wasnt referred to the surgeon , and i have the letter in my hands.. FFS

Screwfix order, on line i buy it, get there oh we dont have it in stock, can get it in three days. FFS

Order something of Ebay, I wait after for three day post. MMM where is it after 4 days, message them, Oh sorry its out of stock for two weeks. FFS

Again of Ebay, it arrives damaged and seller says a 15% refund as damaged in transit. SOD THAT, so over two weeks i argue the toss its not working then they give full refund. FFS

You try and sell something and all you get is morons that waste your time asking stupid questions then just vanish.

Work, got to a drop, been there 20 mins atleast as they are on brew, fair do`s there. then a steel delivery arrives when the finish brew time. Come out and tell me to wait while they unload the wagon. I have a pallet, 3 mins of a job. Wagon near 30 mins to unload, and i was there first anyway. Sod that i drove off.

All that in space of a couple of weeks. Not to mention more annoying idiots about.

I too cant believe it. Yesterday took the car in for a safety recall, faulty airbag cartridge, got home & went to saw some logs. Electric chainsaw lets its magic smoke out & expires. Out comes the Stihl, fresh two stroke mix & it wont start, strip the carb & still wont go. Squirt some two stroke mix in the cylinder & pull it over, spark plug ignites it & i get singed. Still wont go. Whole morning gone.
Go indoors & a parcel from Machine mart arrives with new grease gun. Slide on connector splits as i screw it on. Phone them & a new one on its way. Grrrr.
Try chainsaw one last time before it goes on marketplace. It starts so i take it out on the logs!
Go & pick the car up to find it had been soused in air freshener & now stinks like liberace's boudoir! Still cant complain they vacced it out free of charge!

To be brutally frank that sounds like your in with a fighting chance of seeing your Doc. The system mine uses, is phone lines open at 8:30 but but by the time you get through after an hours (or more) wait the appointments are all gone. You can’t book other than on the day & if you miss out, you have to chance the appointment lottery all over again the next day.
The problem is the BMA decide the number of trainee doctors & I suspect they keep the numbers low so there is never enough to keep Salaries high on a supply & demand basis.

Our doctors operate the same, lines open at 08:00 and the lottery begins luckily they also do online appointment bookings and there always seem to be slots available for a telephone consultation so I book one of those as our doctors will get you in for a face to face if needed.

On a side note, I went to the surgery for an appointment last week, booked in at reception and told to take a seat, 15 minutes after my appointment time my phone vibrates (I muted it out of courtesy) doctors number on the display, I asked if they wanted to carry out a phone appointment while I was sitting in their reception area

When you do get there it will still full of the same overweight hangers on who were there when you last went 10 years a go accept they've got kids now and have brought the whole family with them

63 years old most of me hurts most of the time .
Not really surprising considering what I have been doing for the last 50 years.
Now I only work 4 days a week mainly testing cars and light repairs .
Don't forget we work to live.

A few years back a lad at the school i was working at as a D&T technician came in on a non uniform day with a T shirt with the legend on it, "Pain is but weakness leaving the body", i must be leaving a fair bit of weakness behind but it dont feel like it sometimes.
