At the moment I have these 2 sets, picked up at auctions.
Sykes Pickavent splitter set, goes up to 6" diameter bearing & a 30" reach.
A draper 2 & 3 legged set.
I was fitting bearings in a motor last week & the SP set was too big & the legs on the draper set were too bulky to get behind the bearing. I had to get creative but I've decided to get another puller set to cover a wider range. I got some £ for xmas & if I don't use it for this it will be wasted on crap.
As much as I would like to I can't afford SP set (£400). I like the look of this set on ebay.

This is sold under different brand names - Sealey £200, USPro £120, the cheapest no-name is £75. They all look identical, probably from the same factory in China but I'm not sure if they differ in quality of materials.
Where I worked we had one of these generic sets & it took all sorts of abuse & it didn't break or bend. The supplied ram gave up very early on & seems to be a common problem from the few reviews I can find. The ram was replaced by a SP one that never failed.
I have a SP ram which is working ok but needs refilled with grease. The draper ram also works ok but will not go back in without a push. So if the ram in this sets gives up I have 2 spares.
Any thoughts from the wise heads on here, especially from those who have this set?
I would also like advice on what grease to put in the ram. You can get a rebuild kit for £20 which is a bit much for 2 seals & a tub of grease!
