Budenberg make nice stuff, I've got a dead weight tester of theirs stashed away somewhere for calibrating gauges.

Budenberg used to be the pressure gauge manufacturer, maybe still are? We still have some old Budenbergs as our calibrated test gauges in the instrumentation shop.
We buy WIKA now because... I don't know why. Relatively cheap and easy to calibrate, I guess.

We used to buy Budenberg gauges for our hydraulic test stands, quality kit, surprised how reasonable the prices are.

We use Stauff gauges for our plate loading kit. Never had any issues with them and they have a hard life being dragged around sites and under diggers.

Why change the oil again? 46 is just better quality 32 same performance afaik.

Right, since it's all apart, I suppose we better sort this tank out.
Poor construction, its all warped and bowed where they've put the rivnuts in. They sealed it with some type of silicone, but it wasn't great and I'm guessing that's how the crud and crap got in.

Klinger PTFE gasket tape - available in different widths and thicknesses. Solves all sorts of gasketing problems from pipe flanges to Lancia sumps. Expensive, but worth it.

Oh wow that is expensive. I think I'll remake the tank. I don't like how thin it is or the fact it's welded onto the press so you can't drain the tank easily etc. If I make the sides from 3mm and the top from 8mm I'll be able to to tap the 8mm and get a decent amouBy of engagement with a M6 bolt.
I can then weld some lugs onto the tank and have it bolt to the press.

I got a bit carried away. Actually I'm going to blast it so just scraped the stickers off. I'm also going to put new feet/angles on as they are bent. New ones already cut.
Dropping the ram in a minute.
Will get the old feet and the tank cut off at some point but I've got some aluminium to do first.

I often wish for a press, it would be dead handy. I noticed a massive cylinder next to a scrapped front loader recently, must be about a 5" shaft, would make a monster of a press if only I could move it!

Get one, never realised just how much I would use it when I built mine. Can't imagine not having one now. Have a cylinder that would be ideal for a press build if you are interested?
