thats the filter remove it and blow through it
Long story short, having cleaned and set up everything I could think of, fitting a new carb fixed whatever it was....
Solvents and compressed air etc. The pilot air jet is fantastically tiny iirc and the most likely culprit for tickover issues.
Sonic or ultrasonic cleaning might have been a better bet assuming no mechanical damage or wear. I seem to remember it would cost just as much for a kit as it would to just buy a new carb....
Tickover should never be governed by cable length but by a stop screw either on the slide/quadrant or by jet regulation.Just an idea.
I had a Husky Hedge trimmer what would not idle, always needed a gentle finger on the throttle.
I checked the fuel. fuel filter, spark plug, air filter and eventfully advised by the main dealership and a local place I needed a new carb.
It sat in the shed gathering dust.
Until last November, when I was board. I pulled her out and had another look.
It took a while, but the nipple at the trigger end of the throttle cable end had worn the plastic hole into an oval shape. That and the cable seamed to be "slack". It didn't feel right.
New cable and a second hand throttle trigger and all was well.
Might be worth a look.
