To be honest re the OP or WD40, hand pump sprayer is cheaper, less hassle and saferYou can recharge them with a compressor.
Never done it meself, and probably wouldn't, but just saying I'd seen it done.Unbelievably dangerous. Most propellants rely on an extremely benevolent liquid/gas transition like butane. Ultra low vapour pressure.
Those aerosol cans are not rated for the sorts of pressures you'd need for an appreciable air fill, It's why you shouldn't throw them on a bonfire (and why we all do!). Not only can the can explode (air is really very springy), the ball valve in the release mechanism can fire out like a bullet.
Seriously, you'd be better off refilling it with LPG/propane/ butane or somesuch and that's bad enough as a hobby.
I just make a hole in the can too, drain it onto a squeezy bottle and use it like that.if theres stacks in and no pressure just poke it open and refill an empty kitchen spray bottle. i just buy wd 40 by the gallon and use a hand spray
