dam right, tig, mig or stick thats why i asked about the stainless rods they run a lot less amps, might not kill the temper

no idea never heard of them, I do have a nice bull dog spade too but this broken one had a nice weight to it

Tbh I think spades are horrible to dig with uncomfortable and the straight shaft annoys me
I do a lot of digging
I have to hand dig something most days
And I either use a trenching shovel or a cable laying shovel
They are more ergonomic more comfortable and as the edges are rounded they stronger
Either bulldog or Wickes are the thickest steel
My Wickes trenching shovel is just over a year old no spade lasts a year without snapping

My.welding ain't that bad. I meant heat treating

Mine did the same....repaired it with 309L....that was at least 15 years ago....still in use

You need to build up the broken section with weld... I suggest tig as it will slow you right down. Probably need about 4 packs of rods unless you use 3.2mm and a bottle of argon


4 days grinding and it will look like new

If you are going to bin then you've got nothing to lose welding it.

My lad found a shovel on the road that had been run over and split the blade. We straightened it and welded it and it's fine. It was steel though

I keep my shovel well polished in order to dig myself out of the crap fast when our lass goes off on one
