both parts of me spade turned up together today so I cut to the s41t and stuck it back together lets see if it lasts

i keep my old spades real clean. it stops the soil and clay sticking to them causing drag

its surface rust where i have not used it in a year!

a good flexidisk over in in angle grinder will polish it up nicely

Hope it holds, I've repaired a few of them over the years and they always fail again if used for any serious digging, I believe they are forged, the one that lasted the longest was a spear and jackson neverbend, I stick welded it and peened the welds while it was still hot, eventually finished it off digging the footings for my garage

I will give it some stick at the weekend when I dig up the lawn.

there a round grinding disk that goes on to a flexible backing pad on angle grinder. takes more off than a flap disk

This is what's in DIY store spades, wafer thin neck with a bit of rebar clumsily tacked in.
