How to find out the owner of a car

I'm curious about who owns a car that I used to have. I tried a website charging £1-95, which I thought was going to tell me, but there was all kinds of stuff but no name. DVLA will only release names if you have some sort of legal reason for requesting it.

Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Make up the form like everyone else does!! Tell them it’s for an unpaid parking charge or sommat

Sacking offence though for a copper to abuse the system is't it?

If I *really* wanted to know I would fill the DVSA form in saying that the vehicle was parked on my property.

wifey worked for the police 10 years ago and they had to have good reason for asking and the calls were logged

Same as PNC abuse. It’s all logged in several ways so if you beat one or two they can still pull others to cross reference.

Many years ago my sister once worked at/for the local cop shop, and I got her to look up my criminal record. She got it no problem, everything was on it.

Oddly enough, when I have applied myself, when I needed police clearance to work in the US or Brazil, they had 'nothing on record'.

It’s no problem looking it up. You’d be amazed what’s held on people.

It’s keeping your job afterwards that’s the hard bit

The record thing for work visa is odd. The ACPO search as it was pulls up everything and I mean every encounter no matter how small. Even FPNs of some type would show on it I believe.

I’ve known plenty of good lads not get work in the US because they had a fight in their teens thirty years prior and have never even spoken to a policeman since. Drink Driving is a big one for the USA as well for some reason.

ive always heard that if you dont tell them they have no way of finding out for the average tourist , maybe if youre a marked man as such /on a wanted list
last time i went they was asking if you had any dealings with the nazi's ...

For the average guy i think you’re right. I don’t <know> But it’s an educated guess that you are. They always ask me if I’ve been on a farm in the last x days. Course I haven’t

I think if youre obviously on a watch list then that’s different and they are shared to an extent. There’s odd rules about that which are always changing. To do with GDPR usually.

If you’re a real bad boy you won’t get there anyway as you’re on a no fly list.

You need to be more honest on a visa application as they ask for a criminal history and other things. I got asked for a chest X-ray once for Australia working visa! As with all these things if you lie you’re ***. There’s a chance you may get in with the criminal record but you certainly won’t if you lie about it.

Sometimes life isn’t fair and people get stuff on their record that screws them over for no real fault of theirs. Pal of mine can’t move to Canada because he got jumped by a group of theee girls. Didn’t hit them till he was on the floor being kicked. At which point he stood up and twatted the nearest. In Scotland that’s domestic violence as it’s man vs woman. With that he’s screwed for Canada. If it was another bloke the Canadians told him it wouldn’t have mattered as he’s got nothing other than that

chance crims have to take ...tell them and its almost sure a no or months of hassle and visits to the embassy or say nah mate, never met any nazis either

going off topic here sorry...but same as the co**d b.s , they'd have you believe there was some sort of massive linked data base for tests and certificates , but wave the official a photo shopped one and they wave you through anyway
