Canada was mega serious about drink driving convictions, the US less so. They both ask about any convictions of any sort, or police charges, even if proven innocent.It’s no problem looking it up. You’d be amazed what’s held on people.
It’s keeping your job afterwards that’s the hard bit
The record thing for work visa is odd. The ACPO search as it was pulls up everything and I mean every encounter no matter how small. Even FPNs of some type would show on it I believe.
I’ve known plenty of good lads not get work in the US because they had a fight in their teens thirty years prior and have never even spoken to a policeman since. Drink Driving is a big one for the USA as well for some reason.
I got busted for drink driving aged 17, but I decided not to mention it when I applied for clearance to work in Canada, and obviously nobody checked up as I worked there for a year. There is no way they can check, short of getting a legal order to access the U.K. criminal records system.
