how to attach a switch to wood (temporary)

Well, at least she doesn't complain that you go off half-cocked or only fire blanks, so being in trouble for only playing with it is good.

Drill two small holes in stock & epoxy in two small neodymium magnets. Add a small metal plate to the switch & jobs done.

Or router a rebate for an engraved metal plate in the stock & fit the magnets to the switch. The engraving is so it does not look odd having a metal plate in the stock.

daft idea but could you use a pir off some cheap leds they are tiny, so that when close to you it switches on, but put it down it switches off !!

Another idea is remove stock and fit the magnets from behind so just below the surface that way when refitted you wouldn't be able to see them.

could use a reed switch a small magnet on finger then when finger is in vicinity or the trigger on comes the light

not really suitable as i only need the light for long distance spotting and then turn it on a second before pulling the trigger so i know im on target (the light pattern is set fairly close to the point of impact so it takes the guess work out, just point the light at where i want to shoot)

am all done for the night now so the torch is going back in the cupboard until they ring me next time to go back up but will definitely be looking at the clip idea tomorrow

Get hold of some fenn traps, place them in tunnels. The mink will be back, keep the rest of your hens inside till the mink has been dealt with.

Get some glue dots like they fasten things to magazines with. They stick to anything and peel off like sticky bogeys.

Some type of spring clip type bracket? Sounds a good idea. It'd be simple to line it with rubber to stop it marking the wood.

Plus one for this. I thought about this whilst reading the first page but carried on reading to see what else had been suggested.

That's the way I would solve the problem.
