yup I stick the old bit of soap to the new bar , its how we were brought up , waste not want not .

My grandparents and parents used to do this too, I think it is throwback to wartime and post war rationing. Like many thrifty things.

Don't have bars of soap here now anyway. Use washing up liquid for handwashing. Also have a fear of dropping the soap in the showers

But how tight am I ? Wouldn't give you the steam off my p**s.

There are grades of tightness even in Scotland.
"Tighter than an Aberdonian" or "A Highland Hotelier" are up the top.
An Aberdonian Hotelier would take the biscuit, though.

I remember there's a jug of kero I used for cleaning in the shed. Most of the muck settles out overnight, but if left for a month or more the fine muck compacts well enough and more kero can be saved.

Living out on the edge of nowhere brings with it the knowledge that everything isn't available just around the corner, so behaviour is modified accordingly.

Last time I did that was at school. Had rock hard soap there, Imperial Leather it wasn't !

There were always rumours about one of the P.E teachers though. He always liked to walk through the showers while boys were showering, and made comments.

Found out a few years ago that he was done for some sort of inappropriate behaviour, and served six years. Went abroad after release and died there.
