Very kind of you to offer, Sir. But aside from maybe a medium cross-peen to have in the 'collection', I can't think of any job I'm likely to be doing that would need either it, or any other type.

Besides, I'm sure MIS would put them to more use.

I only collect claw hammers it seems. ( have others obviously)
Using 4 different hammers today. I know there's at least 6 more in the van scattered around various tool boxes.

Handy to have a hammer in every room I'm working in.

Here's mine.
Until I get another one I like more.



Looks rubbish.
That because it was made from Rubbish.
All of it.

The shaft, and wooden wedge was recovered from scrap wood. It is Ash for the handle and beech for the wedges.
The beech was cut from a garden seat, I reduced a broken 2 person seat into a 1 person seat.
The ash was from window frames.
What was not suitable to be kept was converted into charcoal.

The metal for the head was all dead tools, melted down and cast into the shape.
This was my second attempt at melting steel in my home made furnace. Even the blown air was a from a blower, pulled from a skip.



The head was rough, but it is heavier than it looks.

I probably have too many, half a dozen ball pein from tiny to big, cross pein, pin hammers, ones without shafts, blacksmiths hammers, sledge hammers, silversmithing hammers, hide mallets, boxwood mallets, & a shipwrights maul, the last is like a small sledge but with a big spike on one end, I was told that when planking big boats, the idea being that you bash a galvanised spike in with the flat face & spin it round on the last swing to seat the spike below the surface with the pointy end. Best you dont miss.
