The mathematical rule for how many tools you "need" is N +1 where N is the number of tools you currently have. This applies to ALL tools.

just had a look, and I *think* theres a 1oz hammer in one of the boxes - no pic, cos I cant get phone in close enough to illuminate.

That is my everyday hammer bag.

I'm feeling under-hammered . . .

One claw hammer given to me 42 yrs ago on my 6th birthday - the head had belonged to my dads dad. Used a lot until I was 18 ish . . .

when my dad's lump hammer took over for most things . . .

I did buy a sledgehammer . . . I not too ashamed to admit I couldn't use my grand-dads rather heavier one with any accuracy . . .

I feel distinctly under-hammered and not a little inadequate. I think I have 1 x wooden mallet, 1 x claw,1 x copper/hide faced, 1 x club, 2 x ball-peens of different sizes...and that's about your lot .

On the other hand, I've managed all the jobs I've needed a hammer for, over about 4 decades....

This shed fairy, can the local vicar exorcise it because I'm spending more time looking for the tool I just put down than I am actually using it. Just had a mental add up of these hammers. I never realised I had so many either.

Er, if we're including mallets and such then probably about 40-odd? I did count once for a laugh so I think it's about that. Anything ranging from 1000g Engineers cross pein (and it's smaller 500g brother)... wait.. I have two each of those, one for home and one for work... that counts right?.... to various ball-peins, plaggy mallets, rawhide mallets, various planishing things and down to carpenters ones and a chipping hammer. Might have to have a count up now!
