Pears at work... not sure what variety but they taste awful

In very dry periods most trees & plants will shed fruit and leaves to reduce the stress on the tree.
Gather a bucket or two of them and place them on a sun free shelf ..they may sweeten up after a week or so . If so make country style pear wine . or a Babycham style fizz for crimbo .

With the willow herb I had the same happen here whilst I've had my mind & hands on getting my new mancupboard base laid out & constructed. They have now died off a fair bit , sending the seeds to everyone else around here who never sorted their weed problem out over the years , . Now mine have started to brown up the whole plant is easily pulled out a single stem at a time complete with roots .

Been working there last 24 years... always tasted rough... can you get cooking pears?

I should think so , for pears in the supermarkets & grocers are often sold as dessert pears , try wrapping half a dozen individual pears in new paper & storing in a drawer till mid December .

Just done a search for cooking pears , do yours look like any in the pictures ?

Ssshhhhh ! , that " composting ) medium is not supposed to be used as weedkiller , as no one can be bothered coughing up for the testing and licencing of it.
I got a 25 kg sack of it years ago . with a nice note explaining how it was used in bygone days .. now it's nearly all gone .
