As an employer I do not deduct time for tea-meal breaks. The lads work 8.30 till 5.30 and get paid 9 hours money. If we are busy we have a short lunch break, if we are slow we have long lunch break. But no one has ever gone hungry or thirsty!
That's the way it should be, the worst place I ever worked had a bell signalling the start and end of every brake / work period absolutely hated it, I hated leaving jobs part done because it was brake time.

I own more than one car repair workshop. Seven years ago I bought an existing workshop and took the staff with it.
Day one... Rip out clock card machine! Then staff meeting! Instructed the lads to inform receptionist if they do overtime! Told them they were going to paid for every minute they were on site (pay rise - five hours a week!). Explained my thoughts on meal breaks and tea drinking!
Sometimes we have dinner breaks around jobs (flexi stop time about lunchtime).
I do truly believe a working man should be paid for every minute they are at work!
Lads have to make the best of the working day! I don't want anybody to get hungry or thirsty, hurt, bullied, wet or cold!

One day in the workshop me and a mate who can also drink tea managed to do 180 tea bags in in one shift.
Hold this thought!
The "blame culture" was born in the Motortrade. Customers blame garages, parts suppliers blame methods of fitting over warranty claims. Fitters blame parts. The list is endless..
I have defined attitude to F##k-ups... I don't want to know what has gone wrong, I want to know what staff are going to do, to put it right!
If a lad makes a 100 decisions daily, if you get on to him, when he gets one wrong. All that will happen is. He will stop making the other 99 correct decisions thru fear of getting in trouble.
If one of the lads has F##ked up, I already know this. All I want to do is move the job on! Not keep going over what I already know
Tea can be drunk one of 4 ways depending on what is happening on site.
1. Hot
2. Cold
3. Hot, with bits in
4. Cold, with bits in
Bits...can be anything from a layer of dust, to rubble, wood shavings... You get the picture..
for me medium strong with milk.... or lemon if I am being posh or fed up with milk...
I did try loose tea in the workshop once, the mess was unbelievable just stick with Yorkshire tea bags now.
Sadly no crossover. What so I do....?
Well...
1. I own and run car repair and MOT garages
2. Property development (house rentals really)
3. Knotweed eradication
4. ECU and EDC repairing (auto electrician)
5. Fuel injection repair and sales business
6. Plus I have interests in a motor factors and a dying taxi firm!
What did you do?

Ditto... We tried loose tea too! Tea bag of choice here is Yorkshire (hard water variant)
Sadly no crossover.
