How do I clean aluminium castings ?

We grew rhubarb at the bottom of our garden so often had rhubarb pie and custard. Fallen out of favour with most folk though now. On a still slightly relevant point, the great cyclist Beryl Burton was born a few miles away from me, and through much of her remarkable sporting career still worked on a rhubarb farm.

i live almost pefectly in the centre of "the rhubarb triangle".
the stuff is an invasive weed here.
dig it out and leave a piece of root bigger than an inch, and its back within a month.
on the other hand: long summer walks. bag of sugar in my pocket. snap off a stalk. dip and eat and repeat.
then up all night with bad guts.
ahh. the happy days of childhood.

Well tried the wheel cleaner today , just diluted down to about 20% so pretty gentle, thought better than going to strong to start with , it does work excellent on dirty ali wheels ! anyways couple of pics of dirty ali casting , let it soak , gave it a brush, let it soak well you get the idea ..three hours later its clean(ish) seems oil carp was hardest to get off/out where ali had got salt corrosion. way better than it was but darker grey now

and yes I had de greased the casting prior to that first pic , what will stop/clean the salt corrosion?

beadblasting .will clean and peen the surface smooth
