How do i change the lpm ?

Hi guys i have just had this new argon/c02 bottle but it has it own regulator. How do i set the lpm as it hasnt got a reg for that and it doesnt look like you can put another one on ?

You can't, it's pre-set on those cylinders.

You change the quick release fitting, they are available in a few openings, 12lpm probably the ideal on for general MIG work...

yes i do have a quick realease but it says 18l/min is that too much and will waste gas?

Maybe if you have a big welder with long hoses 18 would be good, or if your working outside a lot.
Pretty sure they do a 12lpm, which should be ideal for most things.
Obviously, if you only use 12lpm, instead of 18lpm, your cylinder will last about a third longer.

Put a flowmeter on the outlet ? They are not expensive and you can turn it down with that.

It's possible to fit a flow meter, but those don't tend to regulate flow, they just measure it. As Hitch mentioned the flow on those things is controlled by that restrictor.

Get yourself a BOC cylinder (or equivalent) Sprayerdrew & use the Regulator supplied with your machine, then you are in control of the gas flow.
You will need to increase or decrease flow depending on the job & you can't do it with those things unless you buy the appropriate (and suitably pricey!) adaptors.

Air Products did me a better deal and they thought they were helping me out by giving me a more expensive bottle i may use it for the weekend see how it is and get it changed next week thanks Guys !!! OH bum looks like i may av to use the pure c02 so i dont empty the argon

Do they not still do the standard "Coogar 5" cylinders? Tell em you'd prefer to swap it for one of those, then you can fit your existing Regulator & control flow as & when you need.

Ive got the same bottle as this,there are different regulators with different litres per minute,mines 15 lpm and i was told this is the lowest ?,what ive done is fit another valve along the pipe so i can control the flow and slow it down even more,see valve below

You can still get coogar in standard cylinders. But then you use your own regulator. Female thread on cylinder valve, which is the opposite to CO2.

The reason i added the tap Hitch is to quite simply reduce the gas useage,the majority of my welding is indoors,so by reducing the flow even more my gas bottle lasts longer without compromising the quality of the welds,if i need to do any welding outside i simply open the tap up,not being able to work due to ill health means i have to save where i can.
