Yes. Wasn't a laptop though. It was no more than what looked like an OBD cable and a flash drive.

Something you have to have I believe even if you buy a board yourself.

Engineer has been today and swapped out board. Nothing visibly wrong on board. Tumble dryer now working. £126 for a one off repair, pay by direct debit over six months and anything else that goes wrong is also covered

Probably a 50p capacitor has gone down.

Like many industrial PLC's I guess you can set them up to load from an EPROM everytime you cycle the power. Certainly could with the old Allen Bradley MicroLogix stuff. Ridiculous price for 100kb or so of memory.
