I’ve pulled my furnace out, had a rummage around for materials and found a section of 4mm thick saw blade, some brass bar, off cuts of american walnut, copper sheet and a truck leaf spring

Gonna have a go at making one of these

Ive tried once before at knife making and wasn’t very successful

Lets see what happens this time round

Crazy stuff huh. Photo reminds me of a time back in school, when one of the kids tossed a bar of soap in the forge during Metal shop.

We buffed an old 10 p coin till it’s glowing. Dropped in on the floor when we got shouted at

The mark is still on the floor after 35 years.

Speaking of coins, I remember our Metal shop teacher had a special collet for holding a penny. Student's could turn off either the front or back sides of a couple, and solder together either two headed or two tail sided coins. Not legal defacing coins, but the teacher didn't mind, and us kids didn't know any better.

Ready to go in the furnace. The middle one is I file knife I managed to burn in the forge. I’ve cut off the worst of the melted metal and will reshape once annealed. Will try to save this if I can. Gonna soften the off cut, I’m sure I will find something to do with this
