Metabo grinders are still made in Germany, providing you buy from their proper pro range and not the cheaper Chinese range.
I bought a load of the Hitahi 9"-41/4" combo kits from Screwfix years ago....about £85....
kept 8 and sold the rest in France...over there they were double the cost.....helped pay for mine.....
all still going strong....
SO if modern Hitchi/Makita is carp what do u buy instead....???????
and I wont ever buy Bosch again....
as my battery stuff dies I'm buying Milwaukee to keep all the batts the same.....
Hilti, how deep are you pockets?SO if modern Hitchi/Makita is carp what do u buy instead....???????
Think every tin pot cheap thing I've ever been daft enough to buy has had replaceable brushes and come with a spare set - most had died before the original brushes even bedded in.That's the stand-out thing for me with (older) Hitachi & Makita kit - user replaceable brushes, a sign of being built for maintenance not obsolescence.
To be fair - its a horrible environment to keep grease in the right place. You cna't over fill it, it will simply overheat and the grease will be useless. The speed of rotation slings the grease off the gears when it starts to lose its "clinging" properties. To some degree I reckon they rely on heat of operation to make the grease flow enough to get it into the gear mesh.Brand new one I bought the other week. Haven't had the chance to put a plug on it yet
The grease machine filling nozzle appears to need some adjustment.

Have a look at what the tool hire firms are renting out, they're not known for buying cheap, buying twice.
Some hilti small grinders are made in China.Hilti it is then.

Erm... Unless I'm missing something,'Hikoki' isn't Hitachi... I've got a Hitachi 9" grinder that's nearly 25 years old and still takes a thrashing with no ill effects.
