I'd be more interested in how much this all cost.
And if any parts need replacing are they covered or are some "service parts" that are chargable.

I would cerntainly not want to be buying at Distance, as 10 secure shipments will not be cheap.

When again, I wouldn't touch one with a ****ty stick.

That is the crux of the situation.a 300 quid welder increases by a minimum 150+vat.
i suppose it puts rtechs policy into perspective.
it isnt that bad if your buying one of the more expensive Jasics,but a cheaper one isnt a clear cut decision

Hundred quid a service I would guess... To be honest, if I got one I wouldn't bother with it. Buy it, use it. If it blows up, get bits direct from China and fix it myself.

Personally I wouldn't buy any of them (jasic, Rtech, TA, parweld etc etc). The warranty and TnC's isn't the reason mind I've just been around top line gear too long to the point I would always buy it.

It's like water coolers. You need to read the warranty terms very carefully as it's easy to miss the point that the warranty immediately becomes void the moment you fill it with car antifreeze. Lots of people have been caught out with that one. We all have voices and if something is unclear there is nothing stopping us asking the question before laying out the pound notes.

Someone mentioned a service being about 20quid, it's specified to be done annually so for a 5 year warranty you need 4 services.

4x20 isn't 150...

Unpack, remove lids, blow out, check connections, pat test, re-attach lids, test, repack, write up service report.

For £20? Hmmm....

Ha, half hours work! Good luck getting into a Chinese welder in that time, screws with soft heads that are neither Pozi or Phillips, more often forced into holes that don't line up, iffy assembly order (front off before lid off, wiring attached to the front etc)... I used to detest taking my r-tech apart for dust removal. The hitachi is effortless in comparison.

Bit like the difference between an ex-corporate dell/hp/Lenovo desktop and a Chinese atx case... I know which one comes apart easier.

Give it to a quick fit man. He'll kick the tyres, give it a wipe and tell you it's like a brand new welder in less than half hour.
It won't be 20 quid mind.

I have checked a few irish sellers,the common warranty term is written as ...register online for 5 yr rtb warranty.
It's not exactly accurate

As a matter of interest how many posters on this thread have needed to make a warranty claim of any kind? If annual service is a condition of said warranty, does the service need to be carried out by the supplying dealer, or an agent of the equipment manufacturer?

Yeah i have seen that as well. Register online for full warranty. Most of the sellers in ireland are just box movers. If there was a problem, they certainly couldn't fix it.

Thats cool if you have to 3k to spend on a welder to sit in your shed and it might be used for an hour a week. Personally i cannot justify splurging that amount of cash for something that gets so little use.

I think most manufacturers use there distributors as there service agents. I think Jim Davey can service your ewm if you bought it from him in the first place and that would qualify. I could be wrong though

I agree mate it's not in everyone's budget I just would only bother sticking with the conditions of the service if the price of the unit made it worth while.

I guess then those who buy from sellers on the net who might be 300-400 miles away, need to get machines back to sellers for service, or compromise warranty terms?

6 months ago bought an Esab Caddy 220 for £1100, complete and ready to go. Sold it as got hold of a Hitachi GP2 with watercooler, for £100. Takes some looking on Ebay but there are bargains to be had, but obviously these machines are all used.
