How many miles to the litre does your car?![]()
Miles?31p/mile.
1.55/litre.
= 5miles/liter.
When I used to cycle, we used to do a regular 50miles each way on the towpath.
There are 8 pubs along the route.
Stopping at each pub for a "quick half", there and back, it worked out at 100mpg.
Therefore my car, at 5x faster, is also ⅕ as economical.
Except petrol is much *much* cheaper than beer.

How many bodkins in a firkin? If have 17shillings and 6 pence, 3 farthings and I get mugged how much do I have? That's what you asked for.
I could also do firkins per furlong.
(Though If I gave a firkin, it wouldn't be furlong.)

Also all the western countries and many others are trying to use a Greek alphabet....whatever next?IKR but it was just an example of a deliberate choice for the definition of a parameter based on the technology of the time. Logically the fundamental value should be derived from the radius even if practically it is "easier" to measure diameter. When you do that of course you have to assume constant radius and equidistance from the focus...
In the same vein you might have thought someone would argue if you're going to go all metric, we need to get rid of the ancient Babylonian time base. If you did think that, you'd be right!
Count your fingers for the hours of the day, toes at night. Not so sure about a 10 day week though!
Clickspring would have a fit if they had to remake the Antikythera mechanism.

No way....? Arabexit? It'll never get past the old Etonian. Latin is making a comeback and lefthand threads.Wait until you find out that schools are teaching arabic numerals...
Pi D^2/4 is far better the Pi r^2 for calculating the area of a circle Nobody, in their right mind, would try to accurately measure the radius instead of the diameter, when doing anything engineering.
