Help with a box trailer body

The old Lucas style lights are about, but they're north of £100
Could you build the box body with a removable tailgate and mount the bike frame inside when required?.

Problem is the Box body will be 5ft x 3ft but the bike we want to carry is over 6 ft so we will design the bike carrier to hang over a little front and back.
When I was about 8 or 9 I found a vintage car back light just a brass tube with a glass lens in the end I still have the glass jewel if I can find it but alas only one.

Whilst I want to keep it looking vintage I just can't afford or justify spending a fortune on it
These are the standard Vanguard lights I have but no chrome trim

Looks like I will have to use round Landcover one? But I will have a look at the car shows over the summer as the trailer a keeper so no hurry just need to get it ups and usable

The first ones are my last resort.
I like the second one as I feel it looks Retro, but they don't have stop lamps in them?
I wonder if I could alter them to be stop, tail and indicator as up to know this looks the best plan, how much would you want for them?

A friend had an old Lancia Aurelia with just stop & tail lights, but when you operated the indicator switch it flashed the brake light filament on that side, looked weird to see a red flashing light, not sure how it got on at mot time.

Sounds good but a bit involved, I am hoping Colins rating in the shed for the set he has then if I can convert them to stop, tail and indicator I am laughing, I already have an old number plate light in stock

The Morris Minors had that when they stopped fitting semaphore indicators before they fitted standard amber ones. I had a 1955 MGA, that had that system as well. There was a large relay thing under the bonnet to make it work.

There you are Mr Winchman, just for you. I wouldn't think it's legal to fit them unless you could prove that it was fitted with them originally, even then maybe not as they would be a different system to the tow car. Only a guess though.

The trailer was not fitted with indicators when new, looks a tad expensive for me though!

No its the whole chrome trim, with out it the glass lenses and the pointy reflectors may fall out, the reflectors look fab, but with out the trim thing its not worth risking using them

The current thoughts.
Panel out the trailer frame with some of my posh Marine ply stuff.
Build an angle iron frame with wooded sides and a tail gate that look like the old advert above but with no floor and flat plates in the corners to bolt through.
I am thinking if I can just design it so four bolts in the corners will bolt it on to the chassis?
Then when we fabricate the bike bit it just lifts off and the bike carrier bolts in place?
Luckily the mudguards can be bracketed off the hubs so I would just change body and spare wheel ?
So any top tips or potential issues?

Struggling with the box style. Really I am trying to get one trailer to do loads of jobs!
It will be used for tip runs and the odd boot sale / auto jumble so I wondered about a locking lid as an optional extra?
I like the idea mentioned above of a curved lid, it could be covered with that EPDM glue on roofing stuff?
I don't know which would be best as I like the ease of plain sides but like the look of No4 in the old advert

This is what I believe to be the same as mine, I think it looks as near original as I will ever find.
I have made contact with the owner for some info but he has no access to the trailer at the moment.
Mine has all the matching holes for the straps on the side etc, he even has the correct lights and the very difficult to find Reflective T plate.
See the little cast Iron thingy that bolt the springs to the body I need two so any ideas? Two of mine are just steel plates.

make the front side of the 'box body' hinged so if folds down to give you your extra room to carry the bike.

id keep the hingy bits on the side parts you intend to use so it folds down flat and quickly for storage. some steel pins sticking out the bottom of it that fit into corresponding holes in the trailer then secured using them 'lash pins' some one linked to earlier. stick the same sized pins on the side of your ramp so you can carry that easily on the trailer too when carrying your bike.

I got some small round 12v lights abit like that from car builder solutions / ebay.

Having had a good look at the photo above I think I am possibly over engineering this?
The light weight is a good thing so adding some more angle for a frame might not be the best solution?
Looking at the one above it looks like he has some 2x2 wood in the corners and just the straps behind the wheel bolting it to the chassis, mine does have the corresponding holes.
It would be cheaper and quicker too.
