Apart from the graphite and oil trick I have tried the rest of the wiggling, new/second key and don't leave the key bunch in the lock tricks. Drilling is the option I asked about but am worried if it will come out enough to allow the handle (circular) to rotate to open. The handle itself is a closed unit and am worried about getting a new lock. The design and fit of the door does not allow any other methods of securing it. It is a HORMANN door.
I've had to drill out a couple of barrels. Both times when keys were lost/ misplaced. It took a while but was no big deal. One was drilled with some cheap 'Rolson' drill bits.
Start off small - but not too small that the drill flutes catch - something a little under 1/4". Then wind in progressively bigger bits until the barrel starts to fall apart. Pull all the bits of barrel out and a screwdriver can be poked in to turn the mechanism on the outside of the housing for the barrel.
This is what I had to do twice - two different doors - modern plasticy things at my last business. If your lock works on the same principle you should be ok. I was told how to do this by somebody who had done it a few times with a hand drill !!!
Good luck
