Jack and block it up so it can't go anywhere during diagnosis, the worst can happen then is the wheels start turning mid air.
Not a bad idea actually. It is fairly obvious when the thing is "working" though, the motor "hums" without having to move it. I'll mention it to the owner but it's right in front of his doors, six inches from a wall. I think he'll end up putting it somewhere else first.
