I hooked it up to this little PSU Ive got and it seems to work fine,

Although im quite disappointed it's not quite as good as the heated seat cover I have

Certainly not, I'd never be seen dead in one of those! Once sent a visitor to go and park theirs around the corner where I couldn't see it when they had the temerity to park one on my drive. She never came again fortunately.

Had to train a succession of overseas secretaries not to order them as hire cars. They all did it for the first order then learned never to do so again!

How do you plan to control the heat settings though? Mine have always been controlled by the seat module that does all the up/down, left/right shake it all about and memory as well.

Sorry to hear you have to drive Jaguars .. but I suppose someone has to .


The heated seat in the old Turismo had four bars of red LED's indicating the level of heat . You toggled the heater switch to get the heat level you wanted and pushed it to off …. held it down for 2 seconds to switch them off .

So I guess it is a simple electronic circuit that is selected to preset temperature levels using the info from a sensor within the seat . I'd look on eBay or the Chinese sites for a multiple input 12 volt temperature sensing circuit board / module The switched output will most likely be to a heavy duty relay where the seat current is obtained . They might even advise you of the heat sensing module / probe . I'll have a play over the next few days & see if I can find a readymade jobby .

computer powersupplys are funny things they are in theory all powerfull but allways been disapointed.

just take not of how much power the heaters want, some seats seem to be PWM driven heaters with thermistor feedback, others just 3 pwm settings and the most basic are just selectable fixed output. the fancy ones when driven @ 100% will set your **** on fire in no time

I had heated leather seats in the Focus and when I scrapped that I was gutted I couldn't get them to fit the Transit. Probably just as well given the recent travails..
