That’s the sort of kits I was thinking about getting or is there something better

can also look at britune and nhk ...if you keep looking and comparing it seems are most are made at same factory and come in a plain box anyway

choice of threaded shaft mount which may shift over time , or nut n bolt method gives you more room to move the lense further back or forward to suit

yeah im happy with them , output is impressive if you watch other cars theres not many with better output , fan isnt too loud , dont get stupidly hot ...so far so good

I fitted Osram Night Breaker bulbs on my DL650 a few years ago, I found they give a whiter, brighter light. I can see better and other road users notice me easier. When I mentioned it to my MOT tester he checked them on the machine and said they were fine, legal too

Questionable, the legallity bit. They don't conform to the c&u regs, the lamp wasn't designed for them.
Looked into this when I had my MGZT, anything other than the original wattage is not legally allowed - the mot man isn't allowed to check wattage or colour, so can't fail them. If you injured someone, it would be a different story.
Load of ******** in many ways, but there it is. I was getting dazzles by everything on the road, a trip back from north Wales down the A roads at night would turn me into the grumpiest, sweariest man ever born. My answer was a set of osram nightreaker bulbs, but they only lasted one winter.

osram nightbreakers are just standard wattage halogen ...perfectly legal

but not what the o.p is asking about

Currently got those fitted and there good but the way the headlights work on a sv650s Is they don’t get the full 12volt into them so the considerably dimmer than the same bulbs in my car hence me enquiring about different bulbs

look into a relay harness then ...should get close to full battery volts at the bulb and all legal /legit

can make own or buy em £10 upwards

Might look into that as it’ll be less work also will it be detrimental to a h4 bulb if dipped beam is on with the main

bulb wont cope with dip/main being on at same time

Currently got those fitted and there good but the way the headlights work on a sv650s Is they don’t get the full 12volt into them so the considerably dimmer than the same bulbs in my car hence me enquiring about different bulbs

Must suffer the same problems as the DL650 then, I fitted relays and as a bonus they take the headlamp load off the starter switch and saves it from burning out (a well known DL650 problem)

Yeah they don’t run full power just googled it and seems it’s a common mod to do to them the lights are okay as is better than the aprilia I had but when I bought a set of the same bulbs for my car and seeing the difference I know something needs done did you make your own harness and if so any tips

Some H4 connectors melt with the extra heat from the bulb running both filaments . . . I'd only ever had cars with four headlamps, so when I built my kitcar back when I was 20, I wired the same way . . .

Be careful with higher power bulbs in modern lamps - plastic reflectors and lenses don't work well with high wattage bulbs - my Lancia lamps, made by Hella, were terrible - bung some higher power bulbs in, with suitable relays to properly power them . . and were fantastic for a short time . . . on dismantling the lamps, the reflectors were singed and distorted - silvering gone . The four standard Cibies on the front of my 1984 Renault 11 were metal and worked well with rather larger halogen bulbs.

Mounted a couple of relays to the fairing frame (at the end of the grey taped cables) and some H4 bulb plugs (other ends of grey taped cables)

All linked products can probably be found cheaper, I just used VWP for convenience

If it's shining out as far as main beam what's it like for oncoming traffic ?

no problems , the break line is like a laser , its beam pattern is so tight that I can use the pedestrian / hedge side as a high beam and still keep the lower side on the white line and it avoids oncoming traffic , I dont get flashed at all , the GS has a turny screw to adjust for pillion / load and with tele lever / para lever suspension the rise and dip on the lights is very very minimal , I just dont bother with highbeam at all , compared to the HID on dip its weedy anyways .

nope , no add on warts here , hust a bulb swap and a ballast / igniter about the size of a snickers tucked in behind the fairing and held on with a cable tie.
