I can't progress the cross slide much now as I need to source 2 new bearings for the back of it where the cross feed screw attaches to the saddle. These are proving to be a bit rarer than ordinary bearings.
In the meantime I brought the headstock around from my old man's shed and lobbed it onto the bed. Not much work but physically makes the machine look a lot more complete, despite there being quite a bit more to do. I'm going to paint the headstock once it's built up rather than painting it before and then getting it all grubby during the rebuild.
