Came up with a plan.
The unwanted coffee machine is going to be returned for a refund, and then I'm going to add the pile of cash my mother gave me to it and put it towards the grandson's first car insurance. As usual, £500 car, £1000 insurance
Might finally get through to my mother that there are better places her pension could go than in my pocket (leaving aside her gas bill)...

SWMBO really excelled herself this year:

A Dremel (I know, 62 years of age and didn't have one!) and a pile of accessories, a tiny endoscope camera thingy that will really come in useful, and a hat with a head light built in - early indications are quite promising! I also got a bottle of Chairman's Reserve St Lucian Rum and the book 'SAS Rogue Heroes' which I'm looking forward to reading after really enjoying the televised series.

It too have a mini endroscopy...a word of caution if you intend to do DIY medical investigation.....
do the gastroscopy one before the colonscopy.

I know what you mean, my mother can’t leave the house without buying some pointless present she can’t afford, plus I’m beginning to think she is deliberately trying to give me diabetes.

Gifts were mainly cash but my wife had been listening, passing on ideas to others and some surprises were a grit blasting hood from the brother in law. Reese peanut butter chocolates from the dog.
Also the Trig Bagger book for West Riding of Yorkshire. Basically a book of Trig points and their locations to visit, tick off and comment on as you visit them. Gives me something to do and incorporates dog walks too.
West Riding of Yorkshire seems to have expanded and stretches far into South Yorkshire and Lancashire too so need to get a few more OS Explorer maps.

I've not lost a single sock in over 3½ year. Men are so much better at laundry.

Im in that position with the new batch, severe quality issues. A hole develops after one days wear, same place every time!
