I made fences when I first left college, we used to put three inch nails in, in one hit. Then I missed the nail and drove my thumb through a 8mm thick piece of board! that was a mess and the skin on my thumb still flakes off, 33 years later

I feel your pain. I've done something similar a couple of times over the years. At least I got an award for doing it while volunteering at my Sportsmen's Club, lol.
Yeah, the guys took a pizz of me at the yearly banquet presenting me with a "Purple Thumb Award". They recovered my 28 oz hammer from the grassy field where I thought I tossed it into oblivion, and the basdurds actually measured the distance; 134 feet.

I hit my thumb so hard while roofing, I could peel the skin back all the way to the first crease, it was like peeling a banana

taped it up and didnt look again for a week, thankfully it had glued itself back together. Funny thing was my nail didnt go black, probably because all the blood could gush out the sides

that’s brilliant, I too would have had a sense of humour failure at that point and lobbed it into oblivion

and I do know where every single nut bolt and spring washers is and where it belongs, it might take a little time to realise where , and I’m cool with that, BUT It does my tits in looking for tools.

I have a few hammers as well, double figures but not really a collector. A friend of mine was looking at all his hammers and I said he should have a website for them, something like hammerson.co.uk. When the roofers were doing their thing years ago one of them was cursing and asked his mate to swap hammers for a bit as the one he had didn't like him. I like the definition of a hammer, a tool for finding the most expensive component near to what you are trying to hit.

That's quite funny - I count six of your hammers that could be identical twins to some of mine
Even down to the faded yellow on the square mash lump!

I think the yellow shafted hammer is classed as a "Geman pattern" they usually have quite a square faces on the head,

I have several of these Toffee hammer's, but they are stamped Walkers instead of Sharps. Got them included with a toffee block at our local Morrisons store.
