Gun Support.......

I was trying out a couple of pistols and I was awful with both......but awful in two different directions. I decided to take myself out of the situation by building a support so I can adjust the sights.......then If I'm still awful....I know its me.


Here is what I came up with......and its made from scrap metal.

Are you holding the gun correctly when firing? thats a common cause for inaccuracy. Thumbs should be crossed behind the grip (most people grip like clentching a fist and then wrap their other hand around - thats not the right way.) Good luck, hope it was the sights lol.

its a nice idea but if the guns resting on the frame when fired the recoil makes the gun jump your best covering it with some foam rubber hold the gun in your hand and just rest the barrel end on the steady then do a 5 shot test to see where the groupings are then re adjust and try again

He is right you know gun will shoot higher, better to rest on pads or something and under the grip. Squeaze the trigger dont yank it.
Sadly banned over here almost 13 years ago, they dont exist.

It's stopped you from shooting anyone with it One of my neighbours used to have a Dirty Harry Magnum and frankly I was a bit relieved when they took it as he was not the sanest of people.

That has nothing to do with the weapon. He could use a kitchen knife or a lawn mower.

Guns don't kill people, People do.


As for owning a pistol today, Not a problem.

Quite so, and I bet a few have over the years. People ran round killing people aimlessly (no pun) yrs before guns were invented.

It's not what is used. It is why? And until people understand/accept that, and do something about it, people will continue to do so, be it a gun, knife, toilet seat or small rodent.

ive got a .22 rimfire with silencer it could kill more people than a handgun at 100 yards without being heard firing. the checks are quite stringent . im hardly likely to go shoot anyone unless i was suffering from depression and had a grudge illegal weapons can be obtained quite easily the labour party padered to the masses and had them banned without any justification just to get re elected just the same as fox hunting not that i like it personaly everyone to there own

I did target shooting for years and found single handed shooting was far more accurate, it's all down to breathing and trigger control (use the pad of your finger not curled round trigger). 2 handed grip was only used for speed events e.g. turning targets, skittle shooting etc.

The government should not persecute the thousands for the actions of one or two persons. If that was the case perhaps they should think about banning all driving for the fear that someone may? have a heart attack at the wheel and kill.

What i want to know is considering these people are constantly vetted for abnormal symptoms, what were the police doing? Same with Hamilton, cover up best mate put a block on it.
Known people just get in to an argument verbally and weaponry taken away indefinately.
Slightest inclination and weaponry is either demanded or taken away, its not a right to own.
The licensing is self sufficient and not from tax payers money.

A bad workman blames his tools

Don't even bother with a rest ,get lots of time in down on the range.
Say at 30 mtrs to start with.

When you squeeze the trigger . (What you don't jerk it ?) your hand will usually squeeze the butt harder and if like most people you are a bit gun shy ,. (blinking or closing an eye ) you will frequently be off target.
You may also have to adjust the trigger pressures and do a bit of actioning ( polishing up the friction faces of the trigger mechanism ) to get s fine gentle continuous trigger action .

Getting a thousand rounds off simply blatting away the first 100 or so will cool you down and then just shoot at some thing small in the sand bank of the butt.
Each time take a double handed aiming stance almost square to the target and look with both eyes fully open ..your master eye will naturally pick the alignment to the target .
.. watch where the shot lands ( can't do that with closed eyes )

Once you get the sight picture the muscle & brain picture memories will allow you to shoot better ..from then on it's a matter of continuing and improving for you will have moved from gun shy to understanding and thinking about each shot.

We have issues with the politicians trying to pass new laws here in the states. I can see where its all heading.......we will just have to hide the guns like they did in Iraq.

When I test fire the guns, the gun will not be touching the base. If nothing else, I'll be able to hold steady while I do the test. I sight in rifles all the time, so I know the concepts about how to get the gun shooting straight. I agree I need to learn technique......but I'm determined to start with a gun thats accurate.

Is it impossible to own guns in the U.K.????

by the way......These guns have adjustable sights.....they have never been adjusted. So.....why do I shoot high and right with one and low and left with the other.....that makes me think I need to adjust the sights before I learn to shoot with either of them. Lots of time on the range won't help if the sights are off. Just like with welders....All the practice in the world won't help me if the adjustments are not correct.

you can adjust the sights on the range....

take some the advise above, try different techniques..

Ive got a small collection of air pistols and after some practice I was knocking down Pennies and 15 meters with every shot...

Sometimes I use two hands but sometimes I use one hand with the other tucked into the waistband of my jeans.....

With my dads .22 rimfire and .22 magnum I can group 5 shots into a cm, I can do that after practice, learning breathing techniques and learning not to yank the trigger..

No it's not. Some things are easier to obtain; Years ago it was very hard to obtain a variation for a silencer but they are easy to get now because of HSE. Pistols were banned, but again they are relatively easy to acquire for Humane dispatch of large game.
