That's a handsome beast but very specialised. Most of my tooling wouldn't even fit under it for example, that version has a very short throw. Looks like you'd struggle to put anything other than shallow bends in anything....

Apparently the square bed Norton 10 was designed for bending.

I can believe it too but you won't get much underneath it. You would need a shallow blade and a relatively low channel. Mind you, you could bend brackets for the Titanic. Just saying it wouldn't be as versatile for general workshop use.

Had a deal up with the Mrs...i want the flypress in the picture below....but I can only have it if I get her this coffee pod machine thing she's been bumping about...its a deal that's cost me....but means I could possibly sneak a couple more items in on the same day.

It took most of the day. My arms are hurting after feeding that in to the wire wheel. But it's really nice finish on it now.

Having done the same to a couple of flypresses now, it is surprising just how well made they are. And it is incredibly satisfying to get them back to peak performance.

Just be careful with that thread. Once cleaned and oiled it will fall through the top mounting and they're difficult to stop once it gets going!

Incidentally, I **think the stop collar and also be used to lift up the top bar so that it comes away from the taper hex. That allows you to swing the arm to the correct position then wind the collar down to fix the arm in position.

I've never tried it myself, I think my threads get a bit stiff right at the top. Be dead handy to have an easy way to reset the position of the arm and I was thinking of all sorts of other ways to do it.

The handle came of easy..the collar came off with no problems. Which considering it had been sat for two years was a surprise I must admit.

I wonder how those threads are (Were, does anyone still make them?) cut. The way it thins out at the end makes a single point cutter on a lathe seem unlikely, plus, what lathe can cut such a coarse thread! Perhaps on a universal mill in a similar fashion to a helical gear? The internal thread would be even more of a challenge, imagine a flypress on a lathe faceplate.

This coffee pod thing isn't a Nespresso by any chance? We'd just got one and it's awesome.
