I could replace the outers and then roll them again for tyre clearance (that seems waste of work to me), or I could reshape the wheel buckets like below as the extended arch trims will cover it all over.
I did very similar years back when I built the Nova widebody.
This looks nice and neat, no inner lip to trap dirt and rot out..
Now my original MegaSquirt1 is obsolete and thinking about a different engine management system (and how much time I put in learning .ASM to modify my original MS1), this popped up.
I did mull over Speeduino but I would have to start from scratch where as MS1 I already know my way around all of it including firmware so I bought another as a spare.
Had to dig the old trusty Toshiba out tonight (not booted up for probably 15 years) and luckily it started straight up!.
Stripping all my files out to put on our modern Laptop, might end up having to clone it as a virtual machine.
Unfortunately new Laptop doesn't have a "proper" RS323 serial port so that's another hurdle as most USB to Serial adapters are pretty pants..
A lot happier now I have a spare ECU, more to save my work more than anything!. Probably 2 years worth on tuning and assembly code modifications on it.
Found a load of pudding in LHS rear arch, but after removing most if it there was sound metal underneath (bit strange!), was going to chop wheel arches to bits but they are sound so leaving we'll alone.
Got LHS partial sill fitted and welded then it started bloomin raining again!.
Hopefully this constitutes a seem weld as it took a while.
Had a go at welding OS rear panel (managed to fill some holes without making any more) so hopefully I can salvage it. It looks rough but hopefully I can bring it back.
Then got rained off again, a running theme it seems...
Come to the conclusion that I'm just going to get it weather tight and MOT'd now. Might treat myself to an inflatable spray booth in spring/ summer and have a go at painting it properly.
First I've heard of an inflatable spray booth. But you can do it outside in the summer if you get the right weather peak sunshine and temperature i have no choice but to do it outside on big ass vans. Probably wouldn't be advisable doing a full car on 2k like. Unless you want to kill your neighbours off.
You may fall in lucky to get a bit of rain when it comes to keying/cutting a coat back
A bit more welding last weekend, painted my rear beam on Monday for a bit if a change!.
Seam welded rhs sill so knocked that off the list.
Bought some Eastwood Rubberized Rust Encapsulator for painting the floor but it's too bloomin cold for it to cure so thinking about a Plan B for time being..
Will see what min temp is for my Epoxy Primer but I think it may be too cold for that as well?.
