Hopefully a quick one here.
I've got a very old 2x120" belt sander in the garage, But 120 inch belts are bloody expensive. So, After watching a few YouTube videos I bought a roll of fabric backed emery cloth and intend to have a go at making a couple replacement belts for it.
I know that I need to thin down the cloth a little and remove the abrasive on the new belts diagonal join, but what glue should I use? Nearly all the videos I've seen use something different, One even used something that looked like wood glue (!?!?!), and some didn't bother to identify what stuff they're using.
I was going to go with epoxy, But I'm pretty sure even some of the more flexible epoxy's out there are not going to take kindly to being bent around a couple of 3" rollers several times a second. I also thought about contact adhesives, But I don't have enough experience to know if that stuffs got a hope in hell of working.
So, What would you guys and galls use?
