If you're welding a load of captive nuts just pre-load them onto some bolts by a turn or two then you can pick up each bolt and hold the nut in place without risk of burning yourself.

Thats what I tend to do.

If its lighter or fiddly work, i tend to use a lighter glove on my right hand, and a normal gauntlet on my left, as that tends to be away from the heat.
Good chance they have normal handling gloves like them already at your workplace. Sz9 are readily available too.

If you're digging try the garden gloves My hands are not small and I have never found any gauntlets that feel properly fitted, either the fingers are too long or the thumb gives no feeling or grip. I had some of these which are listed as lorry drivers gloves but the smallest size there is medium. Liking the glasses by the way

I think that's where i got lucky got my own personal changing room and own toilet, only person with the key too, brilliant...

My dad was a welder and had the nickname "The Asbestos Wonder" for his ability to withstand heat. What he didn't tell his colleagues was that during his mountain climbing/rescue days he gave away his gloves in some altruistic act of madness and clung to an icicle until his hands lost all feeling. This resulted in permanent nerve damage and the nickname.

My current neighbour owns a timber/fencing business. He has a woollen glove on his left hand after an accident many moons ago. One night at a BBQ (after one too many beef burgers) he demonstrated his duff hand by removing the glove and waving it over the coals until someone asked what the smell was.

Not that I'm suggesting these are alternatives to a pair of gloves.

My other half has the same problem with gloves they are always too big, she has some lorry drivers gloves like pedrobedro suggests they are better for being able to feel things through and do offer some heat protection, but can get rather warm rather quickly and can be a bu66er to get off in a hurry! I tend to use one heavy glove and one light on the other hand and use needle nose pliars or waterpump for really fiddly stuff.

I was installing new emergency light fittings at work and was putting one up in the staff ladies toilet when one came in and asked what it was "the housing for a CCTV security camera" I replied, she only believed me and dashed off to bend the ear of the IT manager who was in charge of the CCTV system

I can attest to the need to be able to get the gloves off quickly. I've got a scar down the length of my index finger where a blob of molten metal burned through the glove that was too tight and pulling the glove off resulted in a sizzle all the way down the finger as the blob of steel drew a line along it.

It hurt all out of proportion with the size of the actual scab too.
