You want to be having a very good look at the triple clamps as well for any fractures/ distorsion , if that's the headstock what awhack they must have taken .

Yes I’ve got some dye pen, they’ll get a dose of that before I ride on them again

Some advice about physio (I've been laid up in hospital a couple of times - same leg / ankle both times) :

First time I was off my feet for several months, did everything the physio told me to - and ended up with an ankle that got limited mobility every winter when it got cold.

Next time, off my feet for a month, did what the physio said and a lot more to stretch tendons and force movement. Got told off by the physio for over doing mobility exercises of my own but I now have an ankle with full mobility again.

Not being able to walk up & down stairs in winter for 10 years without limping made me ask questions. I was told the physio aims to get you back on your feet so you can walk out of the hospital - they don't get paid extra if they manage to get you back the way you were

Edit. you lose mobility in your soft tissues when you're laid up, search for Atrophy or look at wikipedia

Already spoken to beta, they have a brand new frame on the shelf that was stamped with the wrong vin when ordered, so couldn’t be sold. They’ve asked the factory for permission to scrub the number and restamp it with mine and they’ve refused.

Just use it with-a different number, if its registered a like for like change should be acceptable.

If we had a problem with the VIN number at work, light strike, stamping head fault etc. it had to be over stamped with XXXXX's and the number stamped again below, it mainly happened on China market cars for some reason

That was what they were hoping to do but factory has said no

Ideally they could scrap the frame by cutting off the headstock complete with a couple of inches of frame tubes for you, but I suspect corporate fears of litigation won't allow it it was a standing joke at Rover that the company wouldn't let you buy an old table in case one of the legs fell off!

I feel that’s going to be the answer but always worth a try, it’s no good to them

That’s the nuclear option, it is a 10 year old bike so they’re already doing more than expected.

I did post the pictures on the beta group. Had all sorts of people convinced the either the head bearings were too tight (they weren’t), they were too loose (they weren’t, the bearings been fretting and ovalled it (it hasn’t)

Looks like I’m going to make a new top collar with a spigot that press fits in the headstock tube. I could do with a lineboring type setup that would locate off the inner of the headstock tube and machine the top off to keep it at the right angle. Any suggestions?
