I saw that, looks like they want to close stations and end night shift on others I wouldn't be surprised if they closed my local (Kings Norton) with Billesley and Northfield taking up the slack.

The corporate manslaughter laws forced in back in the 2000s haven't helped either. Doesn't matter if 100 members of the public die but if a single fireman or woman dies the bosses can go to jail hence being totally risk averse.

There's senior officers who run the show.
Many of them have never seen a decent fire at the sharp end in their or life.
We have to take orders despite knowing they are often wrong. It used to be time served promotin based on experience and exams. Now its of you face fits or you are a yes "person"

So that explains why I never got to be the big cheese.

I've been operating above my competence from day one! The workshop cat knows more than I do and even with its lack of opposable thumbs and arms it's better at welding too.

Used to be a thing in teaching. If you applied for a job you had to get a reference from your headmaster. If you were valuable some would give you a bad one just to keep you. Fortunately some heads could see through it but it cost a lot of people jobs.

That's why I'm determined to be as cxxp at my job as I can get away with for as long as I can get away with then maybe I'll get a promotion to director level so I can show how cxxp I am at golf
